At a glance

This project constructs a roundabout for the extension of 133rd Avenue NE intersecting Woodinville-Snohomish Road and Little Bear Creek Parkway (NE 177th Place). As part of this development, a dedicated pedestrian and bicyclist tunnel will be built beneath the roundabout to support the Eastrail Trail, ensuring a safe and convenient crossing for trail users. The goal is to balance road efficiency with improved access for non-motorized users, creating a safer and more accessible environment for everyone.

Key benefits

  • Improved Traffic Flow: The roundabout will help ease traffic congestion by allowing for smoother and more efficient vehicle movement.
  • Reduced Congestion: By eliminating traffic signal delays and providing continuous flow, the roundabout will reduce overall congestion in the downtown area.
  • Enhanced Access: Improves access to the downtown area, benefiting both motorists and non-motorized users, such as pedestrians and cyclists.
  • Safety for Trail Users: The dedicated Eastrail Trail tunnel will provide a safe and convenient crossing beneath the roundabout, ensuring cyclists and pedestrians can navigate the area without disruption.

Scope of work

  • Improved Traffic Flow
The new roundabout will streamline traffic by connecting Little Bear Creek Parkway, Woodinville-Snohomish Road, and the new extension of 133rd Avenue NE. This will improve access to areas both north of Little Bear Creek Parkway and south of Woodinville-Snohomish Road, ensuring better connectivity between these key areas.

  • Reduced Congestion
The project will create a more efficient route for motorists exiting SR 522. The roundabout will alleviate congestion, providing an alternative route to NE 175th Street for those heading toward the downtown area. During the SR 202 Corridor Widening & Trestle Replacement project, a detour route will be in place to minimize disruption to traffic.

  • Enhanced Access for All Users
A dedicated pedestrian and bicyclist tunnel beneath the roundabout will offer a safe and convenient passage for trail users. This will enhance connectivity to the Eastrail Corridor and future trails, benefiting cyclists, pedestrians, and commuters alike.

Project funding

The estimated cost of the project is $10 million, in addition to engineering and right-of-way acquisition costs.

Project schedule

  • Design & Permitting: Completed in 2025
  • Construction: Summer 2025 - Spring 2026
  • Open to Public: Summer 2026
